Dr. Marla Weldon joined our team as an associate optometrist in 2011. Dr. Weldon graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Alabama at Huntsville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she graduated with honors.
During her time at UAB, she completed rotations in Low Vision, Ocular Disease, Pediatric Optometry, Contact Lens, and Primary Care. She also completed externships with the VA Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Eye Health Partners of Middle Tennessee, and a private optometry practice in the Nashville area. As a student at UAB, she was a member of the Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, the American Optometric Student Association, the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists, and the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society.
Dr. Weldon also served as the Honor Council Representative for her class throughout optometry school. She currently is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, and the Middle Tennessee Optometric Physicians Society. Dr. Weldon grew up in Cornersville, Tennessee, a small town south of Franklin. She met her husband, Grant, while attending college in Huntsville.
Dr. Weldon enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, antique shopping, attending concerts, and watching UT football.
